Before speed comes technique. Before the big lines come the small ones. And before any rider discovers how far they can go, somebody has to give them the opportunity to start. That’s exactly what Vid Peršak continues to do through his Kids MTB Camp in Slovenia. More than 40 young riders came together at Bike Park Poseka for three days of riding, skills development and outdoor activities, with sessions ranging from fundamental bike handling to more advanced techniques. The official program welcomed riders aged 9 to 18 and combined MTB coaching with workshops, swimming and plenty of time spent together away from the trails.

They experiment. They adapt. They try things because nobody has told them they shouldn’t. A section that looks impossible one morning can become rideable by the afternoon, and what begins as learning basic bike control can eventually become a lifelong relationship with the sport. Poseka itself provides an ideal progression ground, with trails spanning easy and intermediate flow terrain through natural enduro and demanding downhill tracks. Not every kid at Vid’s camp will become a professional mountain biker, nor should that be the objective. If they leave riding a little better, feeling a little more confident and loving mountain bikes a little more than when they arrived, that’s progression worth celebrating.
